Leon Gibson Wins the StatSheet C-USA Sixth Man of the Week - January 14th, 2013

StatSheet's C-USA Player of the Week for January 14th goes to UCF's Keith Clanton. Tulsa's Shaquille Harrison has won StatSheet's C-USA Freshman of the Week. And finally, Leon Gibson has won StatSheet's C-USA 6th Man of the Week.

Clanton led all of the C-USA in scoring (24.0 pts per game). He also put up a strong showing in shooting (80%), rebounding (10.5 per game), and blocked shots (3.5 per game). The UCF senior played well for the Knights in a win against UAB and a loss to East Carolina.

Clanton led all rebounding for the Knights with 13 while adding 5 blocked shots in a 64-48 win over UAB. He followed that up with a team-leading 36 points plus an additional 2 blocked shots in an 88-85 loss to East Carolina.

This is one of three StatSheet C-USA Player of the Week awards for Keith Clanton. The runner-up this week is Rod Rucker, a junior from UAB. Honorable mention goes to Southern Miss junior Daveon Boardingham. The highest ranking player from Houston was TaShawn Thomas who finished ninth.

StatSheet C-USA Freshman of the Week: Tulsa's Shaquille Harrison

Shaquille Harrison averaged 24 minutes starting both games for Tulsa. His averages in both rebounding (6.0 per game) and assists (4.5 per game) were the best among all C-USA freshmen. In a 79-61 loss to Marshall, Harrison led the Golden Hurricane in scoring with 12 points and added 5 assists. Following that in a 64-51 win over Rice, he led all scoring and rebounding with 14 points and 8 rebounds.

This is the first StatSheet C-USA Freshman of the Week award for Shaquille Harrison. The runner-up is our own Danuel House. Daiquan Walker from UCF receives honorable mention.

StatSheet C-USA 6th Man of the Week: Houston's Leon Gibson

Leon Gibson, a senior and a 6-9 forward, played an average of 24 minutes over two games for the Cougars. In a 78-67 win against Southern Methodist, Gibson added 8 points and 14 rebounds. During a 73-54 loss to Southern Miss, he racked up 8 points and 9 rebounds.

This is the first StatSheet C-USA 6th Man of the Week award for Leon Gibson. Tarik Black, a junior forward from Memphis, is the runner up. Patrick Swilling Jr., a junior guard from Tulsa, receives honorable mention. Houston players have not yet been named StatSheet C-USA Player of the Week this season.
